Current and recent projects

I would like to put a massive thank you out there to Musinc Teesside for supporting me and helping me develop professionally. Some of the projects this year..

Red dreams BIP Project.

This was a weekly music session working with a small group of young people aged between 12 and 16. Some weeks we would have just 7 in attendance and other weeks double that. We tried to make the sessions young person led and from that we got a sense of what the young people wanted to do musically. The sessions took place in Red Dreams Music studio in Hartlepool. For 12 weeks we learned guitar, written songs, played drums, talked about issues the young people may of been going through and we developed our musical knowledge through conversation and practise. The young people at the session had trouble with mainstream school and the sessions offered them a chance to express themselves and feel accepted.

St Thomas Moore's School Project

A group of young people the school had chosen as befitting for the workshops attended a 6 week project in which we would work towards writing an original song and performing it. The sessions took place in the school and we used the Musinc Teesside intended outcomes as a guide for the workshops.

1 Develop young people’s musical understanding, technical skills and creative expression.

2 Enable young people to realise their full musical talent and progress on to other opportunities.

3 Improve young people’s self efficacy (self esteem, engagement, confidence and resilience).

4 Improve young people’s mental health and emotional well-being.

5 Increase understanding and tolerance between culturally diverse groups of young people and between young people and the wider community.

6 Develop young people’s ability to communicate and interact effectively with their peers and with adults.

The sessions were a massive success and the group performed in front of the school and faculty and local community priest.

Headstart Feel Good Festival

Originally Music Saves the World's Old Middlesbrough festival, overtime we changed the dynamic and worked with a local charity to put on a small scale music festival at the Myplace Customs house in Middlesbrough. The original sentiment of the festival remained and it was a great day for all involved. Check the youtube channel for a short presentation video.

Myplace Mixed ability project

This is an ongoing project that has been put together by Musinc Teesside and Myplace in which I am employed freelance to work in the music studio. I work weekly for 2 hours with SEN (Special Education and Needs) young people, we develop music skills such as guitar and drums and work a lot of the time in the studio facility recording original songs we have created and even teaching the young people how to program sequenced beats and recording techniques. Some of the work has produced amazing vocal performances and original music expression to writing radio drama's featuring an array of custom made soundscapes to accompany the story.

This year has been challenging, exciting, inspiring and most importantly one of tremendous learning.
